Back-to-back, thought-provoking conversations over the past few days.
I managed to catch the end of Ewan’s Teachmeet on Wednesday night – a lively affair where wine and conversation was flowing. I got talking about outdoor classrooms and then we had some fun with delicious.salted …
Fast forward to yesterday and a seminar on podcasting and social media for organisations, communities and businesses, held at the fabulous Saltire building in Glasgow.
Big thanks to the people at Talking Voices who gave us some background, definitions, and examples of podcasting as well as some thoughts on the future. It was good to meet Mark Hunter who, of course, presents the excellent Tartanpodcast and The Mellow Monday Show and is a Senior Producer at Talking Voices.
Also chatted with Dean Whitbread who had some useful thoughts on the power of social media and how audience participation can make your content come alive. Interesting number (I didn’t make a note of the source) – 66% of podlisteners listen on their desktop. And that includes me. If a media file appears in Google Reader I’m more likely to listen to it directly from there. No podcatcher, no sync.
Other stuff included women in podcasting and Ewan Spence on his experiences podcasting live events including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
And then on to this morning’s coffee gathering. A small, select group and, unusually, not a laptop in sight. Luckily Mike has still managed to recall the morning’s chat…
